More than half a million Swedes currently live abroad for work, studies or retirement. When someone passes away abroad, a common misconception is that the Swedish state covers the cost of repatriation. However, this is not the case. For relatives arranging transport to Sweden and the funeral on their own can therefore be both complicated and costly. At Fonus International we want to make this easier for you.

In the event of a death abroad we support you as a next of kin throughout the entire process, from repatriation and funeral arrangements to the legal matters that follow. Not having to manage every step on your own can, in addition to reducing costs, also give you more time and space to focus on grieving.

We arrange the transport, the funeral and the legal matters

When you engage our services we contact the local authorities and handle the administration related to the death. We also maintain ongoing communication with the Swedish embassy and the local funeral home to ensure that all necessary documents are obtained, translated and legalised. Once the deceased has returned to Sweden, we arrange the funeral according to your wishes.

Through Familjens Jurist we can also offer assistance with the legal process, from estate inventory to distribution of inheritance if the deceased was resident in Sweden. If these matters need to be handled abroad, we can act as an intermediary.
